Sydney Parade

Sydney Parade

Overview

This extension featured triangular-shaped structures and a large cantilevered canopy designed to create the illusion of a floating roof. The innovative design required careful consideration due to site challenges, particularly the presence of running sands which necessitated the use of screw piles and ground beams. The screw piles provided deep foundation support, anchoring the structure in unstable ground, while the ground beams distributed loads effectively across the site. These engineering solutions ensured the stability and safety of the extension, allowing the architect’s vision of a floating roof and dynamic architectural form to be realized without compromising on structural integrity.
