St. Mary’s Hospital, located in Phoenix Park, is a historic Victorian building with significant conservation and heritage status. Our work involved the renovation of multiple wards across all three floors and the addition of a new lift shaft to enhance accessibility. This project required a meticulous approach to design and planning to achieve the necessary structural modifications while preserving the building’s historic fabric.
From a civil and structural perspective, the focus was on carefully assessing and enhancing the existing structures to meet modern codified standards. This included addressing areas requiring remedial work to ensure safety and functionality, while maintaining the architectural integrity and heritage value of the building. The lift shaft was seamlessly integrated with minimal impact on the original structure, balancing modern usability with conservation priorities.
Through a collaborative and sensitive approach, the project successfully brought the building up to contemporary standards, ensuring it continues to serve the community while honoring its historic significance.
